Sea to Sky Schools wishes everyone a fun and safe Halloween! Families can look forward to a strong community presence on Halloween night, with local safety teams out and about—sharing treats, joining in the fun, and helping to keep everyone safe. We encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly, make safe choices, and remember that fireworks are prohibited. Students are welcome to wear costumes to school, keeping in mind our commitment to inclusivity, safety, and respect for all. Please leave accessories like swords, wands, or brooms at home, and save masks for our parade. The Sea to Sky School District extends warm wishes to our students, families, and staff celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights! Diwali, which falls on October 20, 2025, is celebrated by millions around the world. It is a time of joy, togetherness, and reflection, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Wishing you all a joyous Diwali filled with love, peace, and prosperity!

Dr. Negreiros, lead developer of the Ministry of Education and Childcare supported EASE program (Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educators) currently used in our schools, will share practical insights and strategies to support families. October 10th is World Mental Health Day — a chance for all of us to reflect on how we support mental health in our schools, workplaces, and communities.

In the lead-up to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, schools across the Sea to Sky School District came together to honour this important day in meaningful ways. Some schools hosted ceremonies, while others engaged in practices that grounded the community in reconciliation, fostered connections to the land, and supported learning through language, culture, and lived experience. We are closely monitoring the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) reported by Environment Canada, as conditions in our region may fluctuate in the coming days. We will be following the AQHI-recommended actions based on the level of air quality, and each school will continue to respond to changing conditions throughout the day to support the health and safety of students and staff. Please note, our HVAC systems are running continuously. All schools' air handling systems (HVAC) use MERV-13 filters, which are effective in capturing smoke particulates.
